My Grandma’s tattoo

In my family,

coordinating a family gathering is a challenge. We are scattered from Amsterdam to New England. One day my sister proposed an unusual family outing: What if we ladies got a small tattoo of an anchor, to symbolize the family's deep connection to the ocean?

After all, we had grown up surrounded by avid sailors. Our parents, had met as teenagers through sailing, and my grandparents Phyllis and Bob enjoyed sailing throughout their marriage.  Also, two of their uncles are world-class sailors.

Later grandma Phyllis noticed the tattoo of an anchor, her response was exactly opposite of what we had expected. "I really like that. I'm going to get it," she simply said.

Grandma's Tattoo was awarded Best Video Program (Online) at the min Editorial and Design Awards.
